Extractions

Tooth extraction is performed by a dentist or oral surgeon and is a relatively quick procedure. While keeping your natural teeth is always the best option, there are certain cases when that just is not possible. In these cases, a dentist may recommend a tooth extraction.

Tooth extraction can be necessary due to trauma, disease or crowding.

Wisdom teeth

Between the ages of 16 to 24, third molars commonly known as wisdom teeth, may require extraction.

Wisdom teeth are extracted for a number of reasons. If a patient doesn’t have enough space in the jaw to accommodate wisdom teeth, this could lead to crowding of teeth. Wisdom teeth that erupt crooked or impacted, can push on neighbouring teeth and further cause gum issues.

When needed, we can provide wisdom teeth extractions with intravenous sedation under the supervision of an oral surgeon and respiratory specialist.

Intravenous Sedation (IV sedation)

Sedation dentistry uses medication to relax patients that have fear or anxiety. We offer various types of sedation dentistry including IV sedation which is monitored and administered by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon on site.

IV sedation is a type of anaesthesia that is administered intravenously through a vein. It allows patients to undergo a procedure without being aware of any unpleasant sensations or the surroundings.

Bone grafts

Bone grafting is a procedure used to replace lost bone. The usual causes of bone loss are tooth extraction and periodontal disease.

The procedure involves grafting bone tissue material to your natural bone.

Bone grafting is a great way to regenerate bone that has been lost, and encourage natural bone growth. Some of the most common reasons for a bone graft:

  • To create a strong stable base in the jaw for dental implant placement
  • To halt the progression of gum disease
