Gum disease

Even though some people think it is normal for their gums to bleed, it is actually an indication that you might have a gum disease.

Some of the most common symptoms of gum disease are:

Treating Periodontal Disease

The goal in treating periodontal disease is to reduce inflammation of the gums, reduce bacteria and prevent damage to surrounding bone. Depending on the stage of the periodontal disease, different treatment options will be presented.

Gum grafts

A gum graft, also  known as a gingival graft, is a procedure that aims to either thicken or cover receding gums (that is the exposure of dental roots). The procedure is done by using grafted oral tissue.

The exposure of roots or the thinning of the gums is often a result of periodontal disease or abrasive brushing of teeth, which can cause the root surface of your teeth more likely to decay and to become more sensitive. If you think you have receding gums, or have sensitivity close to the root surface of your teeth, make sure to call us and book an appointment.
